Marcliffe at Pitfodels
The Marcliffe at Pitfodels was built originaly as a mansion house for a local businessman in 1858. The present owner, Stewart Spence, bought the derelict property in 1991 and turned the property into a VisitScotland 5 Star Hotel, opening in 1993 by Mikhail Gorbachev.
The Conservatory Restaurant was built on the site of the original greenhouses and is a sun trap in the summer, with outdoor dining in great demand in the North East's fine weather. Our kitchen brigade is headed by Michael Stoddart an Invernesian who has worked for the Spence family for 17 years, alongside 14 other chefs who contribute greatly to the popularity of The Conservatory.
Various types of beef are sourced only locally and in Scotland, including organic beef and highland cattle beef and of course Aberdeen Angus. The Marcliffe is the ideal venue for visiting the North East's great attractions, including wonderful castles, distilleries, golf courses, game estates and salmon rivers.
